Madrid-e1343936119927Driving is not recommendable in most Spanish. The street roads in the old historical city parts are not designed to traffic. Parking rules are different depending on the area of a city, time of the day, day of the week and date whether is even or odd.

Parking rules in Spain
In some cities of Spain is allowed to park in one side of the road for the first half of the month is (blue and red parking restriction signs marked '1 -15') and on the other side for the second half of the month (sign marked '16 - 31'). Parking should be set in the same direction as the traffic flows in one-way streets or on the right side of the road with oncoming traffic.

No-parking rules in Spain
- In places with yellow markings and where is installed "No parking" sign.
- Within 7 meters of a bus or tram stop.
- In areas for residents (with black bars in the locations of telephone booths and street lighting posts).

Paid parking in Spain
Parking places marked with blue lines are paid parking. So you have to buy your ticket from a nearest machine on the sidewalk usually with a blue and white "P" sign , or to buy it from an attendant.
Paid parking in Spain is from Monday to Friday 9.00 bis 14.00 o'clock and from 16.00 till 21.00 o'clock and on Saturdays between 9:00 and 14.00 o'clock for a limited number of hours (1-4 hrs).
